Oktobeerfest

We'll its that time again. Every October my little town of Walhalla has a Oktoberfest. It is a lot of fun. We have a beer tent, Polka band, and local craft vendors. There are several places to get a sausage and of course a funnel cake.
I have been attending since the first one back in the seventies. When I was a kid it was great because of the rides. When I was a young adults it was great for the beer tent. As a parent of a 13 and 17 year old there isn't a lot to get excited about. They are too big for the rides and they watch me like a hawk in the beer tent. Basically it will be a couple of sausages and a chicken dance before we ride the trolley back to the parking lot.
Oh yeah almost forgot, the local politicians will be there with plenty of bumper stickers and pencils telling you why they don't suck as much as the other person.
Bring on the beer and brats!

Kidney stones

The third week of July I started having trouble peeing. Next thing I know I'm in awful pain and passing blood. A CT scan later I see the biggest kidney stone I could have imagined. That was just the beginning. Last Friday I had my fifth procedure trying to get these things out of me. I have had ultrasonic waves and lasers pushed through my privates and I still have stones left. Last year it was roids this year it is stones. Getting old is not for wimps.
Today is 46th birthday. My wife bought me a nexus 7. I love it. As a mate of fact I am using it to write this blog. Since it is so convenient I may be able to post more often.
Roads, stones, whatever, at least I am still here.
